I find this coincidental since I was working on a psych question regarding careers and I have my book opened right to the page where it talks about the different careers and such.

Biopsychology does research on the brain and how the brain affects physical behavior.

Comparative does the same thing only with animals compared to other animals.

Developmental does with kids and research on their behavior and growth.

Environmental deals with how human behavior is affected by the environment.

Gender does research on the interactions between sexes and behavior between them.

There are more than those but those is all I know of. Well the book states. :]

Economic is the study of how to allocate scarce resources. They make assumptions about human behavior, utility functions (more is better), they do not study it. From time to time an economist uses these assumptions to examine non money orientated behaviors. By observing behavior they construct preference, which they then use to explain the behavior. Whether or not this approach will produce increased understanding is yet to be seen.

Don't know what you mean by "physical ascents of the brain." I can only surmise that you are talking about bio feed back loops. Anyway two disciplines study brain/body communication: Neuro Physiologists, and Physical Neurologists, if memory serves.
