Ive actually done all three years of the AAT and i think it is, like you say, more suited for a person wanting to be an accountant as it includes modules for limited company accounts, partnerships and IAS (amongst others).
I havent done the book keeping course but i think it sounds more appropriate for your needs

I have done the entire AAT course through Kaplan (the first 2 levels were through my college who hired Kaplan tutors) and they have been very professional and very good all round. The only slight grievance I have is that I am still waiting on them to get my project sorted out in terms of marking as that is the only thing I have oustanding on my qualification.

Overall though I would go for Kaplan, granted I have no experience of the other 2 but Kaplan provided excellent tutors and textbooks to study from and they have a very high pass rate. Good luck with your studies! :)
