Science Fair Project Display

Todd Said:

How do you normally display a science fair project? (look at details)?

We Answered:

Well, you could organize it along the same lines as your written report, and if you're not paying more attention to your written report than to your foam board, you should. Put your proposition--problem statement on the left hand panel, your methodology and pictures of your apparatus in the middle, and your conclusions and other comments on the right hand side. This isn't a requirement, only a suggestion.

I've seen about eight zillion science fair projects and judged most of them, and here's a hint: the judge will mostly be interested in three things:

1) Did you do the work yourself?
2) Did you have any idea what on earth you were doing?
3) Did you learn anything?

Grading will also hinge on spelling and grammar in the report and the postings, and on whether you can make a graph that makes sense. We grade on those because they're easy to spot.

Need help with a Science Fair Display Board...?

We Answered:

How about the school store (not like your school, it's just a shop called the school store) or else shop ko or walgreens, or you can just ask your school's science teacher. They usually have some good display board posters.

How can I give my science fair project some flava?

We Answered:

My friend and I had the same problem for our science project. White does, after all, look kind of boring. I believe some of our ideas might work for you.

First, make a big multicolored title. If able, make it have to do something with your topic. For example, if your project has to do with the sun add a sun to the title. If the movies add a filmstrip. If dying materials, add bottles and plants. And so on...

Next, make your fonts flashy in bright, but readable colors. Furthermore, print them on lightly colored paper or back them up by bright construction paper. It will make your project eye catching.

You might want to add little decorations that are 3D. For example, pop up stickers, bows, glitter, etc...

Pictures, pictures, pictures...
These show people what your project is about. Some people visiting your fair will just pass by scanning pictures before they decide to read the words. What you should do is add some flare to yours. Back them up with construction paper, and add short simple captions. Use your most clear snapshots so people don't have to strain their eyes.
- clear
- informative

Another big thing is the information. I saw that while looking around the fair it was hard to find the information of some people's boards. Those were the one's most people skipped. TIPS:
- Put things in logical order. (Hypothesis, Objective, Materials, Procedure, Observations, Conclusion.)
- Try to make data visual in graphs or something similar.
- Put your results in a place where people can easily see them. That's what most people want to see.

Last, but not least... weird positioning.
Instead of just putting your writing or such in a straight line do something crazy with it. Try slanting it or making it hang off the board.

- Make sure that the writing is still readable, the poster isn't confusing, and that your's has unique element. Good Luck!!!

- Sincerely,
Bubble

How do I mount a triop carcass for display with my science fair project?

We Answered:

First you need to preserve it from being putrefied by action of saprophytic bacteria. To do so, immerse it in absolute alcohol ( ethanol) and then pin it to a board.

How to display this science fair project?

We Answered:

Ask a Question: The scientific method starts when you ask a question about something that you observe: How, What, When, Who, Which, Why, or Where?

And, in order for the scientific method to answer the question it must be about something that you can measure, preferably with a number.

Your Question
Do Background Research: Rather than starting from scratch in putting together a plan for answering your question, you want to be a savvy scientist using library and Internet research to help you find the best way to do things and insure that you don't repeat mistakes from the past.

Background Research Plan
Finding Information
Bibliography
Research Paper
Construct a Hypothesis: A hypothesis is an educated guess about how things work:
"If _____[I do this] _____, then _____[this]_____ will happen."

You must state your hypothesis in a way that you can easily measure, and of course, your hypothesis should be constructed in a way to help you answer your original question.

Variables
Variables for Beginners
Hypothesis
Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment: Your experiment tests whether your hypothesis is true or false. It is important for your experiment to be a fair test. You conduct a fair test by making sure that you change only one factor at a time while keeping all other conditions the same.

You should also repeat your experiments several times to make sure that the first results weren't just an accident.

Conducting an Experiment
Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion: Once your experiment is complete, you collect your measurements and analyze them to see if your hypothesis is true or false.

Scientists often find that their hypothesis was false, and in such cases they will construct a new hypothesis starting the entire process of the scientific method over again. Even if they find that their hypothesis was true, they may want to test it again in a new way.

Data Analysis & Graphs
Conclusions
Communicate Your Results: To complete your science fair project you will communicate your results to others in a final report and/or a display board. Professional scientists do almost exactly the same thing by publishing their final report in a scientific journal or by presenting their results on a poster at a scientific meeting.

How to decorate my science fair project display board?

We Answered:

you should divide your board in twi and show one side as artificial light and the other as real light. then show their growth.
