Summer Law Classes

Tim Said:

Does the number of classes someone takes per semester have an affect on law school admissions?

We Answered:

No, the number of courses you take per semester is not signficant as far as I know.

Your college grades, your overall average, your LSAT scores,
your application including personal statement and references are key.

Christina Said:

Can you go to summer school if you fail at law class?

We Answered:

It means that you better get your act in gear, and study harder. It means you have until the next report card time to clean up your act. They probably have a series of options at that point, largely based on whether you are keeping your tuition payments up to date. Get back to work, and don't waste any more time onn Answers! Good luck.

Craig Said:

Any summer law internships for high school students in NYC?

We Answered:

Probably not...even more unlikely to find something paid. Law students (and pre-law college students) are fighting each other for internships, and many of them will end up taking unpaid positions just to gain experience...

I think your best bet would be to ask around with friends of the family and see if anyone would be able to let you shadow them for a week, or if anyone needs cheap labor at their law office.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...even if you were to get an internship, it probably wouldn't be anything fun anyway. My political internship last summer (a year before I completed my degree in political science) was pretty much sitting around entering stuff into a computer database all day. You've got plenty of time to get some worthwhile experience.

Gordon Said:

does anybody know where i can take classes online for microeconomics and business law ?

We Answered:

Very often, you don't have to apply for full admission just to take a couple of courses at any college (online or in-person), you become a non-degree seeking student there which is a very simple process. Most often for online courses the process is simply to register and pay the fee, program admission isn't required.

Several states allow online-only students who are taking less than 6 hours to pay in-state tuition. New Mexico is one. Most states though charge much higher tuition for an out of state student which makes taking a course there cost prohibitive in many cases.

If you expect to transfer the course into your present degree program then get permission from your school first. They'll call this "transient student" and it's the only way to be certain that the course will transfer back into your degree.

UC-Berkeley teaches Business Law http://extension.berkeley.edu/cat/course… and Microeconomics http://extension.berkeley.edu/cat/course… online - you can't get a much better reputation in California than that.

If cost is a factor to consider (and it usually is) Cerro Coso CC http://cconline.cerrocoso.edu/ is pretty inexpensive and may offer what you need.

If you want really cool name recognition on your course, Harvard Extension http://www.extension.harvard.edu/Distanc… does econ and business online. Their summer schedule isn't posted yet though.

Casey Said:

Really interested in Law and Economics? 7th grader, what jobs to do at summer and books to read?

We Answered:

You can start with the "_____ For Dummies" series.
They're actually some of the best introductory books on the subject.
