Math Online Classes

Marvin Said:

Online math classes at universities?

We Answered:

Check out www.ALEKS.com... I just took a Precaculus course through that site, and it qualified for credit from the American Council of Education. So you would check to make sure your college accepts courses accredited through ACE, and if they do, then you can take this course. It is $20 a month to take the course, and then a small transcripting fee from ACE. Even if you take a few months on it (it's self-paced), it should be well under $200.

How do online college math courses work?

We Answered:

I took Math 115 (Mathematical models) on line last semester. We had certain homework questions to do each week out of the book and then we had the test on line about once a week. The test was set up where you saw the question and had a space to type your answer and work into. We also had a discussion board where we had to communicate with the other classmates via typing at least three times a week. For question on the homework we had a QAC discussion board which stood for questions, comments and answers which my teacher checked regularly to see if anyone needed help. We also had the option to email our teacher with any questions that we had. Everything was done strictly on the internet and the only time that I had to drive to campus was for the final exam at the end of the semester.

Vernon Said:

Are college online math classes hard?

We Answered:

Sometimes math classes can be tricky. Some requires in class demonstration, work through practical problems together in order to fully understand the concept. If you have a good sense of number and have the ability to learn and grasp concept quickly, then it shouldn't be a huge problem for you to take it online.

Take online math classes for high school to lessen load?

We Answered:

I've taken Algebra2 online course in summer before.
So, YES you CAN take math course online in summer if they OFFER the course (for example, my school doens't offer pre-calculus in summer).
It DOES cost money since online summer school is the same as the general summer school.
You have to ask your counselor about this for links or resources, because my county doesn't have online summer school so I did online summer school in other county. So I needed the approval of the principle and stuff.
So your school counselor is actually who you should talk to.

Online math classes anywhere?

We Answered:

The University of Phoenix does. Their online classes are purely online, and you can take them without enrolling for an entire degree. They're regionally accredited, so the credits are eligible to transfer to other schools. But be smart - look up the class you need on the U of P website, and bring the description to your advisor so you can have her review it to be as sure as possible that the class will transfer back.

Marcus Said:

Does anybody know a good online college for Math classes?

We Answered:

You may want to consider an accredited state school that happens to be online like Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey, Excelsior College in New York or Charter Oak State College in Connecticut. They are all part of their state's university systems.

Charter Oak State College has an online course search for people that only want to take individual courses. Try searching for Math classes here:
http://www.charteroak.edu/courses

Credits from these online public colleges transfer well, because they are just like other state schools like the University of Connecticut.
