Has anyone ever attended Fisher College in Boston online? If so, how did you like it?

We Answered:

"...steer clear of any online, for-profit schools (may have 'bricks and mortar' buildings and may be 'accredited') such as penn foster, capella, university of phoenix, strayer, kaplan, ITT tech, argosy, everest, sanford brown, ashworth, walden and others as they are merely out to 'make a profit'..."

Yes, they are "for-profit schools" but collectively millions of students attend them each year and each of them have been in business for years & years. So for-profit or not... they must not be all that bad.

Can't believe anyone would cite "ripoffreport.com" as being some type of web site to find out the "truth" about a company. Are there some dissatisfied people that have typed up something negative about for-profit schools on ripoffreport.com? Yea.
But ANYONE can sit down and type up some complaint. If you look through the "ripoffreport.com" you'll see complaints about Walmart, AT&T, Bank of America, T-Mobile, UPS, FedEx, Hewlett Packard, Autozone, Toys-R-Us... the list goes on and on. I guess since these companies are listed on "ripoffreport.com" they must be in business to rip people off to. (LOL)

Question about certified medial assistant?

We Answered:

No, and this is true for any certification or licensure in any medical professional job. The degree for a college/university is just that--a degree. Any certification come from a certifying body (not associated with the school) and licensure comes from the state.

Big education related questions.?

We Answered:

Well, I'm a linguistics major and there are plenty of jobs in the field that don't require terribly much math or science. Have you considered being a Spanish teacher? Or an English teacher for immigrants? TESOL programs (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) have very high demand, especially in New York, Florida, California, and Texas. Also, TESOL will often set you up in other countries to teach English and pay for your room and board AND a salary. I personally know one guy who graduated from a TESOL program and is now teaching English to crew members on a cruise ship in the South Pacific, and he gets $500/week plus free room/board on a cruise ship. How cool is that?

You should consider pursuing linguistics and/or Spanish. It's something you're good at and obviously enjoy, and at this point in your life (you're only 18!!) you need to focus on just getting a degree. Honestly, the fact that you HAVE a degree is waaaay more important than what your degree is in. Having a degree shows that you're willing to invest time and money into bettering yourself and you're able to have the skills it takes to go to college. Your particular major isn't as important to many employers. For example, my dad majored in photography and now he manages environmental safety.

At only 18 it's TOTALLY normal to have no idea what you're doing in life. Many 22 year old graduates still have no clue. And in this economy, your best bet is to stay in school until the economy gets better because there's no jobs out there anyways.

Seriously consider being a language teacher (either English or Spanish). If you don't like kids, you can teach adults. And if you don't like speaking in front of large groups, consider one-on-one or small group tutoring.Tutors actually get paid between $15 and $35 per HOUR! Pretty good, eh?

Question about certified medial assistant?

We Answered:

You should probably look at the state requirements in Oklahoma. Every state is different. For example, where I live a medical assistant does not need a degree and does not need to be a CMA or RMA. Check your state requirements first and then make your education decision. Also... remember to make sure that the school you attend is accredited. Good luck!
