Rn To Bsn Online Programs

Angel Said:

Is the RN to BSN accelerated program online?

We Answered:

RN can mean 2, 3 or 4 years. The "2 year RN" actually works out to be 4 years because it's almost impossible to cram the entire course into 2 years, and you would have to have certain college courses before you could even got on the waiting list for RN school. The 4-year BSN program is exactly that: 4 years. Taking it online might be nice, BUT if the course was not specifically recognized by the National League of Nursing, your BSN might not be widely recognized. If you are currently an ADN RN and are considering going for your BSN, be sure to check out any online programs for accreditation by the NLN. I've seen some flaky programs offered that impressed me as little more than a "get your BSN off the back of a Cheerios box." NOT what you want!

Roberta Said:

Does completing an accelerated BSN program also make one an RN?

We Answered:

I found a school that does a Second Degree BSN (bachelor of science, nursing) program. This is for people who already have a college degree (it doesn't matter what it is - it could be accounting for all they care) but would ALSO like to obtain second degree in nursing.

However, there are certain classes you MUST take before getting accepted into this program. Some include:
-Anatomy & Physiology I and II
-Intro Psych
-Intro Sociology
-Basic Bio
-Chemistry
-Lifespan Psych
-Abnormal Psych

For this program, you must complete all these courses before you are accepted. Once accepted, you take all your nursing courses. This takes about 17 months.

If you haven't taken any of these courses, you'd need to do them first and then apply. So, this could add an extra year for you.

Janice Said:

Is it possible for a 1st year nurse to complete an RN to BSN program and work full time?

We Answered:

I started in an online RN to BSN program the very next semester after graduation from the ADN program. I started out working 80% of full time, and gradually dropped down to about 60%. I also have a family and so it was rather stressful for me. But it's possible. Everyone can handle different amounts of stress. But I would recommend trying not to work full time if you can help it. RNs make decent money and often get full benefits for as little as half-time status, so I'd say try to only work as much as you really have to while in school and go full time later after you're done. Good luck.

Help!!!! lpn to rn or bsn bridge programs?

We Answered:

All nursing programs have pre-reqs, whether you go through the LPN first and then bridge to RN or go directly for the RN program (ADN or BSN). There are no short cuts. There are no completely online programs because all programs require practicum / skills labs and clinicals. You might be lucky enough to complete some of the courses online, but not all. Think about it, would you want a nurse caring for you who never set foot in a classroom or had any hands-on clinical practice?

Louis Said:

what is a good online rn to bsn program ? nursing bsn?

We Answered:

Local, public and private universities in your state are just fine. Even if the BSN completion programs at your local schools don't formally advertise as being an online program, many of the courses can usually be found online anyway, especially if it is a larger school.

Do NOT get sucked into someplace like University of Phoenix, which is a for-profit school that will give you very little support as a student but will be happy to rape you of your money.
