Students from Rose Hulman University in Terre Haute, Indiana, give free help in math and science via telephone on Mon--Thursday evenings. Just call that number. Sometimes she'll have to tell them to slow down an explanation. These are really bright college kids. They want to help. During school vacations, the Ask Rose hotline shuts down. Call that number 1-800-ASK Rose and you'll get excellent help.

1. As math courses go, theirs are pretty easy, and not necessarily equivalent to a 3 credit course in a conventional college.

2. Teachers are very helpful - they want you to pass.

3. Teachers are pretty knowledgebale.

4. BUT, you might not get someone with a math degree teaching a math course. I think you should insist on this - speak with your advisor if you discover you didn't get a math teacher for a math course, and similarly for any other course.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's easier to understand concepts when there's a teacher standing in front of you and writing examples on the board.

I'm not sure what state you are in, but you might just check with other community colleges in your state.

Or you might try one of these Kansas community colleges. To my knowledge you would not have to go on campus, although you may have to find someone to proctor (supervise) your tests. Neosho County Community College, Chanute, KS www.neosho.edu. Allen Community College www.allencc.edu, Johnson County Community College www.jccc.edu, Hutchinson Community College www.hutchcc.edu, or Butler County Community College www.butlercc.edu. If you want the class to be from a 4-year school try Pittsburg State University www.pittstate.edu. These colleges would be significantly cheaper than University of Phoenix, Devry University, or some of the other big name online colleges. There are so many options out there and many cheaper options usually available from public colleges than for profit online colleges.

Contact your local community college, it only takes a day to register and sign up for your online math course, they have courses from Basic Algebra all the way through Calculus online. Taking it from a community college will ensure that it is legit and from a accredited school, you need to be careful when taking online courses from specified online schools. Hope this helps some.
