Karen Said:

What are some good resources to help a child who has difficulty with math?

We Answered:

When my 3rd grader struggled with Math I started using Math U See. It's a hand on math program that uses manipulatives to help the student internalize the math concepts they are learning. Each book instructs once particular math concept. It really helped my son. Now he's om 8th grade and doing great. We are still using MUS for higher levels of math.

Where could I find some educational software for a Mac computer with system OS 9.2 on it?

We Answered:

BAck when I had an older computer, I was able to find out-dated, older OS9 applications on Ebay. If you're looking for educational software, look for Broderbund software. They made a lot of educational software for the Mac.

Mabel Said:

im making an educational website for children any one got any tips?

We Answered:

Have you asked the kids about what they might like to see on there. Also, just like "Adult Education", keep it simple and don't get all carried away.

Teachers and kids, please help!?

We Answered:

I'm assuming by your word usage that you're in the UK? I'm in the US, so my suggestions are available here, I think you can also get them there. (I know Amazon carries them if nothing else.)

The Jumpstart programs are wonderful, and they range from Preschool to 6th grade. They cover a wide range of subjects and are strong in phonics, language arts, and math. They are produced in the US, so the history facets for some grades center around US history, but other than that they should be very user-friendly. Here's a link to them on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103…

If the computers have internet access, there are TONS of great programs and games for free on http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/revision/. My son (10) has been using those resources for the past 3-4 years and loves them - even moreso than some of the programs I've purchased.

Hope that helps!

Can someone summaries this article for me plz?

We Answered:

Computers are everywhere. They're less expensive so have been bought for more homes. kids are using them at an earlier age, even if they don't have one at home as they can use them at school.

Adults are amazed by young kids' computer literacy - this can give children a sense of power and accomplishment and they use computers for fun rather than work, as the adult community do.

Children can use computer programs to learn or improve basic skills: academic, reading or artistic. They can communicate easily, aided by the growing use of internet in homes and schools. Computers are becoming more powerful, allowing children to access presentations, pictures, text and audio.

Because ocmputers are everywhere, and are promoted at school, kids are constantly exposed to them but not everyone is happy about this. The Alliance for Childhood want to stop kids using computers, partly because of the costs and the health effects that it can cause. It's uncertain what effect computers have on children, but even though there isn't enough information about it yet, the possibility of negative effects are serious enough to put children's computer use under consideration.
