Sat Math Test

Gerald Said:

Is there a difference between the SAT 2 Math 1 and SAT Reasoning Test Math?

We Answered:

No, there's not much difference except that the SAT II subject test in math is completely multiple choice. The SAT reasoning test in math is not completely multiple choice. It has a grid in section.

Tyrone Said:

Is it a good idea to take the SAT Math II subject test?

We Answered:

Yes. Math IIC goes up to around Pre-Calc/Trig at most. There is no calculus involved, so you'll be fine. And since pre-calc is basically a face-paced review for Algebra 2, you already know your stuff, but I still suggest you buy a test prep book, flip through it a few times, and go take the test. I suggest Barron's, since their books are ridiculously hard but do a wonderful job in preparing you for the SATs (they said I'd get a 660 in bio. I got a 780).The only negative about taking it is that there are a lot of people who are really good at math out there, and if you make a careless mistake or two, one question down could possibly mean more than a mere 10 points off your total score. On the brighter side, it's a rather easy test, and I know more than just a few people who got 800.

Best of luck! (:

Becky Said:

Do i need a graphing calculator for the SAT math test?

We Answered:

i took mine in May for my SATs, its useful...but all you REALLY need is a scientific one :]

GOOD LUCK =)

Margie Said:

Why is SAT subject math test 1 alot hard than the SAT section math?

We Answered:

It's not THAT much harder than the SAT Reasoning section, but it's the same style: tricky questions testing a few more topics. I'd say the worst thing about the SAT II Math I is that there's not much of a curve, so it can be difficult to score a perfect 800. On the Math II test, there's a nice, generous curve, so that even if you miss five questions, you may still be able to get that perfect score. Of course, the questions are more in-depth and cover a broader range of topics.

Vickie Said:

My 8th grader son is now taking Honors Algebra II. Can he take SAT Math I test after he finishes 8th grade?

We Answered:

He certainly could, but it might be a waste of time. From what I've seen, many high-ranked colleges don't even accept the Math 1 as one of the SAT II requirements; most of them only go for Math 2. Still, though, it could be an extra edge worth looking into.

Amy Said:

Can an sat math subject test score replace your score on the actual math sat?

We Answered:

No.

Juanita Said:

What formulas are given on the SAT math 2 test?

We Answered:

Yes, you are given five formulas for solids: volume of a right circular cone, lateral area of a cone, volume and area of a sphere, and volume of a pyramid.

Here is a link to a PDF file which shows the formulas you are given on the SAT math subject tests (level 1 and level 2):
