Not me -- I have a BS in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in Mgmt Information Systems and this has been a GREAT combination for me for nearly 25 years. It was a slow go in the beginning but as I got experience and momentum in my career I've been doing quite well for myself to the point where I've enough cash to have my own business. it's used on large projects where everyone needs to be up to date with the latest information.

for example. a construction company needs to keep an eye on the latest drawings the architect has created. you'd use the MIS to find the different revisions of drawings (they're called transmittals). you can also keep track of the stakeholder's emails (called correspendences).

basically it's a one stop shop database full of the project's information.

I suppose that all depends on your goals. if you want to work for someone else then I would say the latter however, should you study the former you may still be considered for employment/management in someone else's organisation with the added bonus that you will be equipped with the knowledge to run your own business should you wish to.
